Coffee has long been a drink closely related to Vietnamese life. It is necessary not only to stay awake, but also to enjoy and communicate. However, not everyone knows the difference between different kinds of coffee beans. Each nut has a unique flavor, caffeine content and economic value. If you want to know what kind of coffee to choose, Goce Coffee will explore and distinguish various coffee beans with you, so that you can have the clearest and most comprehensive understanding of the taste, characteristics and value of each coffee bean.

Distinguish the importance of seeds

Recognizing the differences among Arabica,Robusta,Culi and Moka can not only help coffee lovers choose the varieties suitable for tasting, but also:

-Ensure a complete experience: know which hard seeds and which hard seeds to choose the right preferences.

Standard recipe: The barista will balance the proportion of coffee beans to create a harmonious taste.

-Economic value: Some rare varieties, such as Mocha, have higher prices, while Robusta is more popular and mediocre.

Learn more about coffee culture: each coffee seed reflects the planting area and method, which is helpful to enrich the coffee culture in Vietnam.

Current popular coffee bean species

Arabian coffee (Arabica)

Coffea arabica is the oldest and most popular coffee variety in the world. Arabica originated in the Ethiopian plateau, and now it is planted in Brazil, Colombia and Vietnam, mainly in Dalai, where the climate is cool all year round.

Arabica usually has a long shape, slightly curved and shallower than Robusta. Arabica's caffeine content is very low, only 1-2%, so it tastes mild and not too strong. When tasting, Arabica brings sour taste, fruit fragrance, and occasionally chocolate and dessert flavor, which fascinates many coffee lovers.

Arabica is usually used in high-grade coffee, specialty coffee, or mixed with Robusta to balance aroma and bitterness.

Robusta Coffee (robusta coffee)

Coffea canephora is the largest coffee variety in Vietnam, which is developed especially in Xiyuan area due to the tropical climate and fertile Balkan soil. Vietnam is currently the world's leading exporter of Robusta.

Robusta is smaller, rounder, straighter, darker and harder than Arabica. Caffeine content is high, from 2-4%, almost twice that of Arabica, forming a very unique taste: bitter, less acid, strong taste, thick and rich.

It is precisely because of this characteristic that Robusta is often used in traditional Vietnamese coffee, and dissolving coffee or espresso requires a thick cream layer. If Arabica is exquisite, then Robusta is the representative of strength, sobriety and explosive energy.

Culi Coffee

Peaberry coffee is not actually a separate strain, but a rare natural phenomenon. Usually, each coffee bean contains 2 flakes; But with Culi, the fruit has only one round grain, thanks to which the nutrition and taste are more concentrated.

Cucumber seeds are round, small, firm, and usually contain higher levels of caffeine than regular grains. When roasted and brewed, Culi brings a strong, intense taste but still has a delicate aftertaste, which is considered by many to be “natural”.

Due to its rare production (accounting for only about 5% of total production), Culi is often sold at higher prices and is often used to blend, creating distinctive, individualized coffee cups.

Moka Coffee

Moka coffee is a specialty Arabica variety, brought to Vietnam by the French from the late 19th century. This type of coffee is grown mainly in Cầu Đất (Da Lat), where the climate and soil are particularly suitable, but it is difficult to grow so the yield is low.

Moka seeds are small, long, light-skinned, easy to recognize. Caffeine content similar to Arabic

A quick comparison table of coffee beans Arabica,Robusta,Culi,Moka Culi and moka

In order to make you more comprehensive and easy to understand, the following is a quick comparison of the main characteristics of popular coffee beans, such as Arabica, Robusta, Cooley and Moka. This table will help you clearly distinguish between taste, caffeine content and the popularity of each type.

What kind of coffee beans should I choose?

Each coffee bean has its own characteristics, suitable for different tastes and cooking methods:

If you like delicate and gentle fragrance: Arabica will be the ideal choice. With sour taste, sweet taste and fruity aroma, Arabica is suitable for coffee lovers to enjoy a slow and quiet morning.

If you need to be strong, wake up immediately: Robusta tea with high caffeine content is a good choice. This is also a common coffee in traditional cafes in Vietnam, which brings rich, obvious bitterness and beautiful cream when espresso is made.

-If you want to experience a unique and personalized taste: Cooley is a rare choice and worth a try. Strong and sweet taste, suitable for people who want to find novelty in coffee cups.

-If you want to enjoy luxury, precious: Moka is the "queen of coffee", with delicate fragrance, slight acidity and refreshing aftertaste. Perfect for giving gifts or experiencing coffee.

In fact, many people choose to mix Arabica and Robusta to create a balanced coffee cup: Arabica brings fragrance and Robusta adds rich flavor and caffeine. This is also the secret of many coffees and espresso today.
